HOPEfest 2015 Comes To Ripley County, IndianaPosted by TR Pennington on June 23, 2015 Uncategorized | Tags: HOPEfest 2015, Indiana, Phil Richter, Ripley County, Tyson Activity Center, Versailles | No comments
HOPEfest is a spiritual event coming to Ripley County, Indiana on June 27, 2015 at Tyson Activity Center. This FREE event will be a night of fellowship and music including powerful messages of hope through Jesus Christ. HOPEfest will also feature the Grammy-nominated Christian artist The Rhett Walker Band.
HOPEfest was the brainchild of local Versailles, Indiana resident Phil Richter. Phil came to the Lord about 2 years ago after living his life as a non-believer for 42 years. Music has always been a huge part of Phil’s life and after becoming a Christian, Phil started listening to some of the today’s contemporary Christian artists. Not being a huge reader, sometimes getting the message out of the Bible just didn’t work for Phil, but music was a different story. A particular artist’s lyrics made a particular connection for Phil, The Rhett Walker Band. Last summer, Phil attended several worship events featuring RWB and other artists and was moved by how these events reached all kinds of people. That sparked the idea to bring this type of event to Versailles, Indiana. Phil took his idea to Pastor Mike Cantrell of Versailles Baptists Church and then the Southern Ripley Ministerial Association and now HOPEfest is on its way to becoming a reality.
According to Richter, his community has experienced a loss of hope over the past few years. “People young and old alike have experienced hardships with a down-turned economy and loss of opportunity, the breakdown of the family unit, the rise of the drug culture, and the loss of faith in God,” said Richter, “Too many feel that all hope is lost and that they can’t turn their current situation around so why even try. The goal of HOPEfest is simple: to help the lost in our community that they may find HOPE in Jesus Christ.”
This event is being offered free to the public so that no one who is in need of hearing the message will be unable to attend due to finances.
